I believe in the healing power of connection – that we can move toward health and peace by connecting to our bodies, our creativity, our community of support, and our Earth. My work and personal backgrounds center around nature, children, creativity, and the power of touch, all of which enrich my approach to the healing arts.
In 2002, I completed the massage therapy diploma program at Body Therapy Institute in Siler City, NC. Since then, I have expanded my bodywork skills to include prenatal massage, Reiki, hot stone massage, aromatherapy, and reflexology. I enjoy blending massage with other modalities to assist my clients in relaxing deeply and enhancing inner awareness for intuitive self-healing. I also offer Trauma Wise Body Therapies, in which I adapt massage and bodywork to be more accessible, comfortable, and effective for trauma survivors.
In addition to seeing clients, I advocate for comprehensive ethics education in alternative healing professions and am a contributing author in The Ethics of Touch, 2nd edition, by Ben Benjamin and Cherie Sohnen-Moe, a required text at over 250 healing arts schools. In 2016, I authored a self-help memoir, The Art of Healing from Sexual Trauma: Tending Body and Soul through Creativity, Nature, and Intuition, as a way to offer creative self-care ideas for survivors of sexual violence.
In my spare time, you’ll find me hiking, cooking, painting, taking nature photos, and hanging out with my teen son.
